The University of Minnesota, Morris Concert Choir is currently touring the UK and is performed locally this weekend. The tour group are staying with local families and we had the pleasure of having one of them stay with us. Originally from Chicago's south side and now in Minnesota studying psychology, Jimmy stayed overnight and the family had a lot of fun discussing the differences between the UK and the US. As this has been his frist trip outside the US, he has been enjoying a lot of new experiences travelling abroad and it was been fun for us to 'see' our country through new eyes.
Whether taken aback at the age and majesty of Canterbury Cathedral and Leeds Castle or slightly bemused by the differences between Scotland, England and Wales, it was interesting to get another perspective on things we take for granted.
Mind you, we had trouble explaining the differing concepts of the United Kingdom, Great Britain and The British Isles...mainly because we didn't really know either.
