Impulse buy

After a long day and a long commute last Friday, I stopped at the supermarket on the way home to fuel up the car and buy some tuna steaks and salad. With the ingredient's for the evening's 10 minute supper tucked under one arm, I headed down the magazine and book aisle to the express checkout. Out of the corner of my eye, I caught a flash of red and turned to look. It was a pair of shoes on the cover of 'Hannah's Gift: Lessons from a Life Fully Lived' which, for no reason and without a second thought, I scooped up and bought. Written by the mother of the eponymous Hannah, it deals with how little girl, her mother and the rest of their family dealt with Hannah's untimely death from cancer. Although it occasionally was a little too mawkish for my tastes, it proved to be a moving and informative read over the weekend.
